Grant Hinkson (Fr0gg3r) is a Seattle-based technologist and generative artist. Grant is drawn to emergent patterns, exploring how simple rules applied to geometric primitives within grid-based layouts result in patterns that feel intentional or โdesignedโ.
Hydra Series – 7 x 7: Complete Cycle
Pre-Vis Rendering, 2024
Grant’s work has been featured publicly at Studio 2 + U and Passable, both in Seattle, WA.
His work often explores the tension between rigid systems and random values, resulting in pieces that, despite their code-based origin, can feel organic in nature. Grantโs work ranges from real-time, 3D-based installations, to rendered motion videos, to static, 2D-generated images, often plotted in ink using custom-built drawing bots.
Grant uses a range of technologies familiar to those in the creative coding spacing, including Unity, Processing, and P5.js, and enjoys exploring how different presentation mediums (e.g. projection, hologram, digital frame) impact the viewer’s experience with a given piece.
“Iterations”
Grant’s Iterations collection was shared on September 28, 2024 at Studio 2 + U at Code Craft, a “pop-up art show, creative coding meeting” organized by Seattle Creative Code.
